Types of Grasslands in India

Grasslands form a variety of ecosystems that are located in different climatic conditions ranging from near desert conditions, to patches of shola grasslands that occur on hill slopes alongside the extremely moist evergreen forests in South India.

What are the uses of grasslands?

Grasslands provide aesthetic beauty, wildlife habitat, research opportunities, soil generation and renewal, and grazing services to animals.

What are some factors that can degrade grasslands?

Overgrazing, climate change, forest and grassland fires, and man-made chemicals can degrade grasslands.

What is the tundra ecosystem?

The tundra ecosystem is a type of ecosystem characterized by harsh environmental conditions that result in a barren and treeless landscape.

What are the two types of tundra?

The two types of tundra are Arctic and Alpine.
